Clear Guidance for Tree Relocation and Care

At Mighty Tree Movers, we know tree relocation and salvage can feel like a big undertaking. That’s why we’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions we receive. From relocation timelines to storage details, these FAQs will help you better understand our process and how we care for your trees.
Tree relocation involves carefully uprooting a mature tree, transporting it, and replanting it in a new location. At Mighty Tree Movers, we use specialized equipment like truck-mounted tree spades, boxing, and cranes to make sure each tree is moved safely. A certified arborist oversees the process to minimize stress on the tree and give it the best chance to thrive in its new environment.
Not every tree is an ideal candidate for relocation, but many can be moved successfully. Factors such as size, age, root structure, and overall health are considered before we begin. Our team conducts a detailed assessment to determine whether relocation is possible and which method will best protect the tree.
Recovery time depends on the size of the tree, the season, and how well it is cared for after replanting. Most trees show signs of new growth within one to two years. We provide detailed aftercare recommendations, including watering and fertilization schedules, to support the tree during this adjustment period.
Tree storage is a temporary solution when trees can’t be replanted immediately, often due to construction schedules or seasonal factors. At our seven-acre farm in Gilroy, trees are stored in-ground and cared for as if they were already in their final location. This minimizes stress and keeps them healthy until it’s time to reinstall them.
When we salvage trees from properties facing removal, we transport them to our farm, where they’re replanted and cared for. Once stable and healthy, these trees are made available for resale. This process not only prevents unnecessary tree loss but also gives clients access to beautiful, mature trees that can enhance new landscapes.
